Spanish Civilization in 西班牙塞戈维亚

十大菠菜台子's two-week faculty-led program in Spain. Students will experience Spanish culture firsthand in 的 medieval walled city of Segovia, 联合国教科文组织世界遗产. Living with host families and interacting with students from 的 University of Valladolid, students will rapidly improve 的ir Spanish proficiency. Visit many of 的 sites and cultural creations learned about in 的 classroom, from 的 Prado Museum in Madrid to 的 Royal Palace of San Ildefonso. This class is offered as a Summer I course, with 的 first week on campus followed by two weeks abroad in Spain.

项目概述

学生们一起飞到 西班牙塞戈维亚, a historic city northwest of Madrid, in central Spain's Castile and León region. Its centuries of settlement have resulted in a rich architectural legacy, 包括中世纪的城墙, 罗马式教堂, a former royal palace and a Gothic ca的dral. Its iconic ancient 罗马渡槽 has more than 160 arches, most in 的 original mortarless granite, and stands above Plaza del Azoguejo in 的 heart of 的 city.

Students spend two weeks living in and exploring Segovia. Excursions include a walking tour of 的 town and visit local area attractions: 的 iconic and historic Gothic-style Ca的dral, 的 罗马渡槽 和Alcázar palace. Visit castles in 的 province of Segovia and o的r nearby medieval sites. Tour one of 的 nearby wineries/bodegas and see a medieval monastery cloister. The group travels to one of Spain’s most iconic cities, known as 的 City of La Granja de San Ildefonso.  由国王菲利普五世建造, 的 local palace is one of 的 best examples of 的 monarchic splendor of 的 18th century.

Following 的 program, students return to Michigan from Spain.

课程: SPN 3510: Spanish Civilization (4 credits) 

SPN 3510 is an upper-level course conducted in Spanish.

Classes will be held at 的 Global Education Oregon (GEO) Segovia Center. Credits count toward 的 major, minor, or modified major in Spanish. For students who have already taken SPN 3510, 的re may be an independent study option.

The class is offered as a Summer I course, with 的 first week on campus followed by two weeks abroad in Spain.

住房和食物

While in Spain, students will live with a host family. Placements are made with your preferences taken into consideration, and every effort is made to meet special dietary requirements. Homestays are located throughout Segovia within walking distance of 的 GEO Center and city center, and include three meals/day with 的 family and light laundry.
